Chiropractor Jailed for Insurance Theft

A 36 year old chiropractor was arrested at his Salinas office Friday on charges of workers' compensation insurance fraud and attempted grand theft.

Steven P. Thompson, owner of Clinica-Guadalupe Chiropractic in Salinas and Seaside, was the target of a two-month investigation by the Monterey County District Attorney's Office and the California Department of Insurance. Search warrants were served at 909 East Alisal Street and 1440 Fremont Street as a result of the undercover operation, prosecutors said Friday.

He was arrested at the Salinas office. The warrants charged him with eight counts of workers' compensation fraud and one count of attempted grand theft.

Thompson was booked into Monterey County Jail. Bail was set at $25,000.
